Born to Israeli parents but raised in the coastal town of Ostend (Belgium), Nir Shemmer started listening to music at an early age. He picked up the guitar in his early teens and was inspired to play by music of the early seventies such as James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Bill Withers. Whilst playing mostly in cover bands he secretly always wanted to write and record his own music. In late spring of 2020 he finally teamed up with longtime friend and very talented musician Thomas Decock to pre-record his first single "Shaky Ground". Recorded at Studio Ledeberg in Ghent and inspired by contemporary artists such as Jeff Tweedy, Ben Harper, My Morning Jacket and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, “Shaky Ground" deals with feelings of desperation and hope with seeing a partner struggle with mental health issues. It is about finding balance between reaching your maximum potential and struggling to stay afloat. The reality that even the slightest breeze can cause someone to fall down completely.
For his second release called 'I don't know just why' out on 02/02, feelings of inner reflection and the yearning for a return to life outside are explored. Inspired by seventies americana this song sounds at it's best when driving in your car with the sunrise glow.
On September the 17th, a third single 'Without It' was released.
